The husband-and-wife duo of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, a.k.a. Shovels and Rope, are hitting the road this fall for one last headlining tour before the end of the year. The musicians’ Facebook page states, “Get your game face on, America. We’re comin’ for you. These shows will be special to say the least.” The Sept.-Oct. tour will take them across the country to venues they’ve never played before, as well as stops at the Austin City Limits Festival.

Hearst and Trent have been steadily on the rise this past year with a handful of sold-out shows in cities such as New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, not to mention a career-defining performance on The Late Show with David Letterman. The band recently received four nominations for this year’s Americana Music Association awards, including Best Album, Song, Duo/Group, and Emerging Artist. Their single “Birmingham” has also been named the No. 1 song of 2012 by American Songwriter magazine.

Prior to their fall tour, Shovels & Rope will take the stage at Lollapalooza and the Newport Folk Festival and finish up their current tour with L.A. indie folkers Dawes.
