Man, do we love watching Charleston darlings Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent shine. Shovels & Rope recently performed on the sacred Grand Ole Opry stage, and now the local duo will be presenters at the Americana Music Honors & Awards in Nashville on Sept 17.

Last year, the band picked up honors there for emerging artist of the year and best song of the year for “Birmingham.” Other national ShoRo recognition since the release of Swimmin’ Time includes a segment on NPR’s Morning Edition, plus write-ups in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Huffington Post.

In our favorite quote so far, Hearst tells the WSJ about the couple’s recently upgraded tour bus, saying, “I’m so looking forward to it. I’ll be reared up and ready to buck like a bull.”
