Did your wallet take a beating when you bought Apple’s new iPad last weekend? Well, here are some free events to give your budget a break.

Monday: It’s the last chapter of Redux’s Double Vision Lecture Series. The lecture starts at 6 p.m. with speakers Sandy Logan and Joelle Neulander in the Redux Contemporary Art Center.

Tuesday: If you’re free during the day, checkg out the St. Luke’s Recital Series, which starts at 12:15 p.m. in St. Luke’s Chapel. Charleston-based guitarist and Mississippi crooner Davis Coen will be performing at the Mill at 9 p.m. Or if you like groove rock with a bit of a California flavor, Still Time is performing at the Pour House at 9 p.m.

Wednesday: Trident Technical College is presenting a film, media, and visual arts open house and art show from 5:30-7:30 p.m. They’ll be showcasing eclectic works from current Trident students. The newly-formed local band named after a local weatherman’s facial hair, Fowler’s Mustache is performing at Art’s Bar & Grill at 10 p.m.

Thursday: The City Paper is hosting the first night of free “Movies in Marion Square” with Where the Wild Things Are starting at 6 p.m. Celebrate National Poetry Month with the College of Charleston and local poet and certified poetry therapist Jerri Chaplin at 3 p.m. at the Hawkins Living Learning Center. If you have a yearning for a little art history lecture, CofC professor David Kowal will discuss art and architecture of the Jesuit at 8 p.m. in the Simons Center for the Arts.

Friday: Join Jordan Igoe and Parker Smith, with Chris “Marty” Martin for some acoustic indie pop, Americana, and “acoustic surf” as you lay back some cold ones. They perform at The Mill at 9 p.m. If you’re in the West Ashley area, Torture Town is headlining at Jimbo’s Rock Lounge at 9 p.m.

Saturday: If you’re in an outdoorsy mood, you can participate in the Ounce of Prevention 5K Health Walk at Total Life Care. Starting at 10 a.m., you can walk the Greenway around West Ashley, and afterwards, Total Life Care will offer complimentary health screenings and refreshments. At the Wild Wing in Mt. Pleasant, Florida-based steel/funk-rock band The Lee Boys are playing at 9 p.m. Then at 10 p.m. at Sand Dollar, The Krushtones make a weekend comeback for their 27th anniversary.
