The Cedar Room
Downtown

Hey, we’re a sucker for good stories (we try to write them everyday). At this under-$100 signature event, speakers gather in the Cedar Room for an evening of “rapid injections of inspiration through visuals and storytelling associated with one word (burned).” The hope is that audience members will be taken on a “journey that connects, inspires, and evokes a ‘sense of place’.” The lineup of storytellers includes Amy Mills of 17th Street BBQ, who will discuss the powerful combination of wood, smoke, and family; grower of the Carolina Reaper Ed Currie, who talks abut finding his way to the world’s hottest pepper; revered Lowcountry Gullah storyteller Anita Singleton-Prather who tells the story of light; the team at Obstinate Daughter demonstrates and serves a smoked cocktail “with a twist and a dream”; life coach and healer Elli Richter serves up raw cacao and explains how it is a powerful heart opener that paves the way to transformation; and torchbearers of Jewish food in America, Russ & Daughters, take the audience through the journey of the growth of an institution. Small sips and bites will be offered before the event, so don’t be late. —MSH
