City Paper photographer Jonathan Boncek recently got a chance to check out the set of Chinese opera Feng Yi Ting, designed by Tony Award-winning set designer Derek McLean (pictured below). It’s the American premiere of the show, composed by Guo Wenjing and directed by Atom Egoyan, best known for indie films like Chloe and The Sweet Hereafter. Costumes were designed by Han Feng, known for her work on Madama Butterfly and The Bonesetter’s Daughter.

It’s truly a stunning set, and it makes us even more excited about the show.
