Spanglish owners Lynda and Tomas Prado will debut a new concept called Myami Bites at Gather, a Greenville food hall featuring nearly a dozen different stalls. Myami Bites will serve a pared-down version of what patrons find at Spanglish, a West Ashley eatery specializing in Cuban-American cuisine.
“We had been playing with the idea, and pre-pandemic, we had been going to different spots to find the next step for Spanglish. We ended up falling in love with Greenville sometime in September,” said Lynda, who first visited Gather when it was a “flat lot.”
After 12 trips to Greenville in the last four months and several conversations with Gather management, Lynda says the two sides came to an agreement that placed Myami Bites in the small incubator stall for the next “8-12 months,” with the potential for it to stay on full time past the first year.
Myami Bites will serve many of the favorites found at Spanglish, like empanadas and the renowned El Cubano sandwich, and it will focus on quick grab-and-go bites, Lynda said.
“Spanglish is so special to me, and I definitely want Myami Bites to stand on its own,” she said. “So what you’re seeing is what our Miami food is today — a lot of the street food that you would pick up. The place itself lends itself to that.”
Spanglish is the first Charleston eatery to land at Gather Greenville, and Lynda anticipates the stall opening in March. For more information, follow Myami Bites on Instagram @myamibitesgvl.
