Charleston’s got plenty of sports bars where you can hang out on Sunday afternoon and watch football, but how many fine dining rooms will serve you an exceptional Sunday brunch while letting you watch your favorite NFL team play? I can only think of one. Halls Chophouse on King Street. The Halls are big sports fans, and Billy Hall actually worked for the NFL for seven years and says he tends to root for the players and coaches that he keeps in touch with (like Steve Smith at the Carolina Panthers).
To cater to pro football fans, Chef Matthew Niessner has crafted a game day bar snack menu with solid choices like tuna tartare with Asian pear ($14), a Halls Chophouse burger with handcut fries (a solid deal at $10), barbecue baby back ribs with fries ($12), spicy shrimp with napa cabbage cole slaw ($12), and blackened salmon salad with pears, oranges, buttermilk blue cheese, candied pecans and white balsamic dressing ($14). Of course, for those who require a thick bone-in ribeye or some Oysters Rockefeller, they’ve got the full steakhouse menu available too. The bar has two large flat screen TVs, and Hall says you can also reserve the private dining room, which has a large screen too.
Regular season Sunday games start on Sun. Sept. 12, but Halls new bar menu is already being served, so feel free to stop by this weekend and stake out your favorite bar stool.
