[image-1]After laborious research, Summerville can now lay claim to being the birthplace of sweet tea. To commemorate this finding, the County Chamber of Commerce is opening the Sweet Tea Trail, a path that guides visitors through five districts in Summerville. The plan was designed to help promote shopping, dining, and historical spots in town.

The trail opens Tuesday, Oct. 8 with a celebration that will include a Sweet Tea Bar, treats, games, and more. Summerville Mayor Bill Collins and the Director of S.C. Parks Duane Parrish will also be on hand to say a few words about the Southern staple.

The event starts at 11 a.m. in Town Hall on North Main Street. Guests are asked to RSVP to Alicia Smith at (843) 873-2931 or asmith@greatersummerville.org.
