In his campaign for re-election as mayor of North Charleston, Mayor Keith Summey has raised most of his money from out-of-towners, according to data provided by the State Ethics Commission.

Summey’s latest campaign finance records, filed Oct. 24, show that only $25,495 of the nearly $115,000 he has raised came from donors who listed a North Charleston address. Many donations came from Charleston and Mt. Pleasant, and a few were from Columbia, but others came from as far away as Illinois, Missouri, and Washington, D.C.

His opponent in Tuesday’s election, Charleston County School Board member the Rev. Chris Collins, is running a mostly self-funded campaign and has raised about 1/26 as much as Summey.

Howe III. $1,000 each from Trident Construction Company, Clement Development Inc., construction company CEO O. L. Thompson III, Mt. Notable Expenditures: $10,525.73 on food, facility rentals, supplies, and mailouts for various neighborhood cookouts. $9,850.49 to Palmetto Consulting, a North Charleston firm run by jack of all trades William R. Fuller (a former deputy sheriff who works as a political consultant, an accountant, a web designer, and a real estate agent for Oak Terrace Preserve).

Expenditures: $3,030.09

Notable Contributions: $2,610 from himself. $500 from Columbia-based Brownstone Construction Group. $300 from Mt. Pleasant real estate developer Norm Dickerson.

Notable Expenditures: $1,000 to Juno Signs of Eustis, Fla. $495 to Sign Depot of Orlando, Fla. $518 for advertising to radio station WTMA.
