According to the New York Times style blog, Suno’s designers Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis recently traveled to Charleston to introduce a capsule collection they created for Hampden, one of King Street’s swankiest boutiques. Suno is a New York based womenswear label that calls itself “a high-end collection with a conscience.”

Osterweis came up with the idea for Suno after witnessing post-election violence in Kenya in 2008, and he brought on Erin Beatty, a Parsons School of Design grad, to help him out. While we think Charleston’s own Harper Poe may have beat them to the punch, we appreciate this company’s efforts to utilize the talent of artisans in Kenya, India, and Peru to create a collection of prints, textures, and embroideries.

With a photo slideshow that features such Charleston classics as the “beach” on the battery, Spanish moss in Magnolia Cemetery, and an al fresco meal at a South of Broad home, the trip looks like one for the books.
