The Southern South Carolina District of the Eastern Surfing Association hosts its yearly S.C. Governor’s Cup of Surfing this weekend at Folly’s Washout.

The competition starts at 7 a.m. on Sat. Aug. 20. Throughout the day, surfers — male and female, from kids to adults — will compete in categories in the shortboard, longboard, open shortboard, bodyboard, tandem, and push-and-surf divisions. There will also be a party for competitors, family, and friends on Saturday night.

The entry deadline has passed, but watching first-class surfing from your post on a beach towel is much more fun than pretending to read a magazine. Cowabunga dudes.
