There’s a special kind of magic on Halloween. The kind of magic that allows a peacock and a cowboy to walk hand-in-hand. The kind that gives you Sally O’Malley doing stretches and high-kicks in the middle of a dance floor. The kind where Wall Street protesters mingle with the Sexy Sax Man.

Once again, Taco Boy threw a smashing Halloween shindig down on Huger Street Saturday night. They know how to be a good host, with their tasty taco truck parked out front and Dub Island and the Dubplates cranking out the tunes onstage. Even with the chilly temperatures, people were more than content to sip on the frozen screwdrivers given as prizes for winning the Taco Toss.

With a $1,000 prize on the line, people got competitive and creative with their Halloween attire; there was nary a slutty Disney princess in sight. This year’s $1,000 prize-winner was a guy with a handmade Marvin the Martian costume that would make the Warner Brothers proud, and the group prize went to the fellows who dressed up as the Rockford Peaches, the spunky all-female team from A League of Their Own. The same group wowed the Taco Boy crowd with their California Raisins costumes last Halloween. Do yourself a favor and start planning next year’s costume now.
