Here’s some curious packaging from today’s 4th of July fireworks purchased by a friend:

You’ve got the Confederate battle flag (on fire, which might be a whole other issue) associated with Texas (appropriate enough) and yet the flutist/”whistler” is wearing a hat indicative of the American Revolution.

Now, our Confederate ancestors often wore Revolutionary garb to make the point that secession, and the South’s war of independence was philosophically and politically identical to the thirteen colonies struggle. They were right.

I’m just wondering if the Chinese actually realize this – or just randomly choose and confuse random American symbols because they believe it’s marketable?

Regardless, even if by accident, the Chinese are more on track concerning consistent American history than most actual Americans.
