Bill Murray crashed a guy’s bachelor party this weekend in Charleston and it couldn’t have played out any better than if it was a perfectly scripted Entourage cameo.
In a video posted on Deadspin’s Concourse culture blog (that’s a blog on a blog, for those of you at home), a few Boston College bros descended on Charleston for the weekend in what was likely already planned to be a blowout send-off ahead of their buddy’s wedding, the ghost of Charleston cameos’ past, “shape-shifting coyote trickster god Bill Murray” popped up at the end of a bachelor party dinner at
what looks like Peninsula Grill Oak Steakhouse (h/t, @erperkin of Eater).
Delivering a few well-wishes to all the Oxford shirts in attendance, Carl Spackler — clad in, appropriately enough, a fishing vest — presented the dudes with an adapted bachelor party toast that we can only imagine will be blurted out over Jäger shots in loud bars for years to come: “You know how funerals aren’t for the dead, they’re for the living? Bachelor parties are not for the groom, they’re for the other guys.”
(And it’s apropos that the last half of the maxim is our best guess, as Bros #6 and #7 left his sage advice a little unintelligible on the video.)
After Murray, who admits he’s “had a little experience” with marriage, drops a little more wisdom, he disappears into the night without so much as a chest bump or a high-five.
