While we will never be brave enough to pull a Will Judd and eat 30 softies in two weeks we are pretty stoked to try at least a half dozen this season. The mayhem has already started folks. Here’s a list of softies we’ve seen so far:

Head to Tradd’s for dinner and score a softie. They’re pan frying the crab and serving it over an apple and golden beet salad with arugula and gremolata.
Chubby Fish has a soft shell crab curry on the menu.
The Ordinary turns the humble softie into a work of art.
Coleman Public House recently had their softie served as a banh mi sandwich.
Bacco does softies for lunch and dinner.
Coast recently had a soft-shell special with the crabs fried up, served with fries and slaw.
5Church has softies; they were recently served with petit pois, English pea emulsion, and red onion pickles.
Michelle Weaver is serving her softies at Charleston Grill tempura fried in Stella Artois beer batter, and served with a nuoc cham dipping sauce.
The Royal Tern is serving their crabs cornmeal encrusted with chilled asparagus and a spring pea salad, pickled pepper, daikon, fried green tomato, horseradish remoulade, and Dijon vinaigrette.
Zero Restaurant + Bar will have tempura soft-shell crab with popcorn, green curry, and calamansi juice available on the tasting menu.
Bohemian Bull is doing a softie sandwich during lunch service, a plate during dinner, and a Benedict during Sunday brunch.
[embed-5] Poe’s Tavern puts their’s on a bun. They shared a bit of wisdom in their softie caption: “Right before a full moon every spring, if the water is 68 to 70 degrees, blue crabs begin to molt resulting in the #softieseason frenzy!”
Red Drum has McClellanville crabs — a recent preparation had the softie fried with an ancho chile panko, charred corn, roasted poblano and bell peppers, blistered tomatoes served with a roasted garlic and chipotle crema.
Maison Bistro is featuring a softie with sorrel, sugar snaps, and braised radish, with roasted chicken-brown butter sauce.
Fleet Landing is serving softies as a BLT with a choice of side.
167 Raw is presenting their softie as “The Charleston Dip” with Rooting Down Farms collards, melted swiss, and Crystal Hot Sauce potlikker dip.
[embed-9] Cru Cafe always has killer (and creative) softie specials. A recent lunch special featured a fried softie served over moix choix served with a petite arugula salad with heirloom cherry tomatoes tossed in honey sherry vinaigrette.
Sister restaurant Purlieu also has crabs; they’ve added a roasted soft-shell crab with seared baby romaine, cucumber, radish, chervil, rye bread crumbs, and creamy black pepper dressing to the menu.
Eat your crabs on the water at Tavern and Table. Their sandwich special features a fried crab, Napa cabbage, pickled fennel, Fresno and crunchy garlic mayo on a house-made potato roll.
[image-3] Parcel 32 is serving up softies prepared with: Congaree & Penn purple rice and blue crab, seasonal shellfish (1/2 soft shell crab and four royal red shrimp) tossed with spicy sofito, top sauce, chard spring onions, and radish.
According to their Instagram, Wiki Wiki Sandbar has soft-shell crab sammies.
New Spring St. spot Pink Cactus is serving their softies with guajillo, roasted roots, spring onion and chochoyotes.
Skip the ‘cue at Home Team (just for now!) and grab their soft-shell sammie.
Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. is bringing their A game with the Soft-Shell Big Mac.
The Macintosh recently ‘grammed a softshell sammie with watercress, pickled onions, and sambal mayo on a brioche bun.
The Darling Oyster Bar‘s recent softie special was served on a grit cake with grilled corn and green tomato relish and a spring-onion tomato sauce.
Betty Lou’s Bistro has the goods, and recently served them fried up with fries, slaw, and hushpuppies.
La Tela Pizzeria’s softie looks delightful served up with some butterbeans.
Gillie’s Seafood & Soul announced on Facebook that they’ve got the crabs.
Grace and Grit is carrying crabs from Livingston’s Bulls Bay Seafood.
Edison James Island‘s Sunday special featured a chicken fried (!) softie served over smoked bacon, baby heirloom tomato and chickpea succotash with a bright arugula salad.
