S.C. is still one of the worst places in the country in terms of violence against women, according to the state Domestic Violence Advisory Committee. The report said that it ranks near the bottom due to the state’s weak protection for domestic violence victims, number of women murdered by men, and the domestic-violence homicide rate, which is 1.5 times the national average. While the City of Charleston aims to manage flooding, project costs continue to rise. The Crosstown drainage project experienced a price hike of $43 million dollars due in part to additional engineering costs, steel tariffs, and additional construction demands.
