BUSINESS: The newly elected Herbert Sass will be sworn in Tuesday prior to Charleston County Council meetings. The Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will request $250,000 in accommodations tax money to pay for advertising the CVB spent on Southwest Airlines recent launch in the Lowcountry. The organization committed a total of $800,000 for the ad campaign. The swearing in begins at 5:45 p.m. at 4045 Bridge View Drive.
ENVIRONMENT: Also on Tuesday, environmentalists from across the state will be heading to Columbia for Conservation Lobby Day. The volunteers will be speaking with and hearing from legislators, including a lunch reception with Charleston Sen. Chip Campsen. For more info, visit conservationvotersofsc.org.
ELECTIONS: The City Council will be giving one more look at the redistricting map this week. We posted a copy of the current proposal earlier today. The council will need to act quickly to reach a final decision on the map. It’s got to get to the U.S. Justice Department for approval before city voters head to the polls in November for municipal elections. The meeting is at 9 a.m. on Thursday in the third floor conference room at 75 Calhoun St.
