Call Mark, maybe – Former Gov. Mark Sanford’s cell phone’s been ringing off the hook (AP) from people across the country since he printed his number in a full-page newspaper ad this Sunday. Who’d a thunk? Sanford did notch the endorsement of his former House colleague Ron Paul (USA Today) on Thursday, but conservative standard-bearer Club for Growth announced (USA Today) it wouldn’t be involved in the race, but did pass $5,200 to Sanford as a donation (FEC). And even though he’s standing in Marion Square holding $1,000 in cash, Winthrop political scientist Scott Huffmon warns not to count Mark Sanford out (WaPo).

I just want to fly – The FAA formally lifted its grounding order (WSPA/AP) of Boeing 787 Dreamliners following the aircraft’s battery fix. Also reported today: Proposed improvements (P&C) to the area around the Boeing North Charleston campus could improve traffic flow and spur other development in the area.

Everybody gets a beer garden – Reporters on the beer garden beat struck gold yesterday (CP) with news of two new beer gardens set to open up in the upper East Bay St./NoMo corridor. The old Boathouse Restaurant building will reportedly open as Bay St Biergarten (P&C) this fall, and the former Bird showroom on Morrison Dr. will become Egan’s Oast (P&C).
