A bill that would allow all South Carolina residents to vote absentee without an excuse is heading to the governor’s desk. The passed legislation does not remove the requirement for a witness signature, but will allow for election officials to start counting ballots early. Source: AP

Mount Pleasant passes mask ordinance. Mount Pleasant Town Council passed a temporary mask requirement after a previous attempt failed on Sept. 1. The ordinance requires masks to be worn (by employees and customers) in grocery stores, pharmacies, and town buildings. It expires in 61 days. Source: P&C

What’s up with the coin shortage? Since the pandemic began, there has been a shortage of coins. The shortage is due to the U.S. Mint’s closure in the early stages of the pandemic for social distancing reasons and has since been exacerbated by people social distancing and shopping online.
