The Charleston International Film Festival announces its selections and schedule of films, features, shorts, documentaries, and animations from around the world for 2009.

The Terrace Theater hosts screenings starting on April 23 at 7 p.m.

On opening night the short film Search by Brad Jayne will be shown, followed by the feature film The Black Balloon (a Berlin International Film Festival Award Winner) and then three other films will be shown including the 2009 Oscar Award winning short film Spielzeugland.

There will be after parties at Chai’s, Fish, and Vue at Ripley Pointe Marina, a brunch aboard the Blue Moon Classic Motor Yacht, and an Awards Gala in the Gold Ballroom at the Francis Marion Hotel on the final night. Tickets are $9 per screening. —Emma Hart
