What is it? Three morons who know their Holy City history a little too well — or at least just make it up as they go. Written and directed by Greg Tavares, Morons is a hilarious tour of Chucktown’s past. Tavares, along with R.W. Smith and John Brennan, keep the laughs coming as they guide us plebeians from the colonization of Charles Towne to the present day. Part comedy, part tour, it’s history taught by morons for morons.
Why see it? Think you know your Charleston history? Well, not like this. If you love this beautiful city or are just stopping in for Spoleto, you must take this “tour” for your inner idiot’s sake.
Who should go? You don’t have to be a history buff to dig this act. Tourists and Charlestonians alike will get a kick out of the performance. And for those who need to polish up on their Lowcountry history, ain’t no better place to start than here.
