We’re happy to report that no protesters showed up to this year’s Re:Nude art show, a benefit for Planned Parenthood. Of if they did, the policeman on duty did a good job of sending them on their way.
Held at Redux Contemporary Art Center on Wednesday night, the event featured depictions of nudes of all shapes and sizes by local artists like Sally King Benedict, Sarah Yoder, Ben Hollingsworth, and Redux Director Jane Askew. Offerings included everything from the abstract, like Tom Potocki’s “Rainbow Spirits,” to rich black-and-white photography, like Ben William’s depiction of a bike-straddling, tattoo-covered David Lee. Many of the pieces sold within the first hour.
The small space and large crowd — not to mention the subject matter of the art — kept the temperature in the room rising throughout the night. As the crowd thickened, some attendees took the party out to the parking lot to cool off.
