- John Morlan and David Warren at the new Village Tavern
The new owners/managers at East Cooper music venue the Village Tavern are hustling to get their final renovations finished before opening their doors for their first weekend in business. The Tavern closed down in late July after an eight-year run in the Crickentree Village.
John Morlan plans to take care of the financial details and oversee the daily operations while David Warren will handle the booking and performance details. They started refurbishing the facility in late September, totally clearing out most of the bar and dining area, and adding all-new kitchen equipment.
“The first thing we want to do is plow ahead with live music,” says Warren. “The first time I came to the old Tavern, I felt like it was one of the go-to places to see bands and drink beer and whiskey.”
They’ve already built a new stage and installed a new PA system. They also moved the sound board to a big booth in the back of the room.
The club will feature live local and touring bands weekly. The first night in business is Thurs. Nov. 18.
