John Mariani’s annual Esquire list of best new restaurants hit the web today, and the Ordinary gets a nod for being a “bellwether American seafood house.”

Mariani also praises chef/co-owner Mike Lata for his “canny intelligence” and his mastery of “making the simple into small marvels of invention.”

If you’re keeping track of the accolades, since opening last December, The Ordinary has made the lists of Conde Nast Traveler, Southern Living, and GQ’s Alan Richman

And, of course, they also got nominated for a James Beard award for Best New Restaurant. All in all, a stellar showing on the national stage for the Charleston restaurant.
