As I scrolled through my favorite Scene snaps while listening to a song by The Fray, I felt unabashedly sentimental about 2005. It’s hard to believe that one year ago Mr. Bush and I were headed to the Belle to ring in the new year. 2005 was a complete blur; memories of the Best Of Charleston party, Spoleto Festival USA, the Charleston to Bermuda race, Darkness to Light, a premiere for a television show that didn’t quite make it, the Rockville Regatta, the spectacular opening week festivities surrounding the new bridge, Pauly Shore, riding around town “top down, loud sound,” the Charleston Comedy Festival, and sundry nights on the town meld into a whirl of laughter and delirium. Standing at the precipice of the dawning year, with its delicious promise of continued social anthropology splendor, is exciting. See you next year and remember to smile for the camera! R.H.T.N.Y.!
