Darkness to Light’s annual gala, a grand tented affair held in Marion Square, illuminated Thursday evening and raised several hundred thousand dollars for child sexual abuse prevention. The dramatic setting included actors costumed as live candelabras and lounge music provided by DJ Moo Moo. On Friday, the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art celebrated its new name with a special evening that featured an eye-popping exhibition of paintings by Julie Evans and Barbara Takenaga. On Sunday, the Patrick E. Ringwald Memorial Foundation held its third annual Patty Fest gathering. Adults, children, and dogs alike enjoyed the mild weather, steamed oysters, live music, and fellowship at this event known for its celebration of life and friendship. Friends of Patrick Ringwald, the general manager of the Boathouse who was shot and killed in 2003, traveled from far and wide to support this event, which raises money for a to-be-constructed memorial herb garden at Trident Tech.
