Even though I didn’t go the Blind Tiger’s “I Slept Through the Bridge Run Party” on Friday, I still only observed the tail-end of the 10K. But, really, who wants to deal with the general public when you can hike over Mount Ravenel any day of the week? Luckily, the crowds were bussed back East of the Cooper by noon and Saturday turned out to be the perfect day to walk around downtown and relax in Cannon Park. Those of us who went to the Holy City Pop Festival at Cumberland’s on Fri. night were treated to a great mixture of bands, personalities, and scenesters. Lindsay Holler’s performance on Friday was definitely my favorite. Shirts and shoes were not required at Sunday’s 16th Annual Lowcountry Cajun Festival at James Island County Park, and that wasn’t a bad thing. A huge crowd showed up to eat, drink, and dance to the sounds of Dikki Du and Dwayne Dopsie. Everyone was comparing each other’s crawfish, jambalaya, and alligator sticks, trying to hunt out the biggest portions and the spiciest plates. Even though Charleston has something to offer any time of year, this weekend certainly felt like the beginning of summer — and the beach is calling.
