[image-1]In Latin, the term “daps” means a sacrificial or solemn feast, and that’s what veteran Charleston beverage director Jeremiah Schenzel (most recently of South Seas Tiki Bar) and Johnson & Wales grad Nicholas Dowling (former head distiller at High Wire) are calling their new breakfast-focused concept opening at 280 Ashley Ave.
After meeting during their time at the Macintosh, the two have been working on Daps for the past year. With Schenzel’s departure from South Seas Tiki Bar last week, the two are now ready to announce the project. Daps will open in a former corner store and will operate Sun.-Tues. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m, and Wed.-Sat. from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving an all-day breakfast menu with a light lunch, bar snacks, and some to-go items as well.
Daps menu has not been released yet, but we know Schenzel has been doing significant research and development on the ultimate breakfast sandwich.
“The drinks will follow suit of the rest of our concept in that they will be creative, unique, and push the concept of creativity and approachability,” says Schenzel. “We intend to continue putting Charleston on the map for innovating on current trends in the beverage industry.”
The Westside eatery is expected to open this fall.
