Downtown theatrical supply house Theatrics Unlimited is hosting an event on Sat. Oct. 16 to get you ready for Halloween. They’re opening up their Vibrant Phoenix Vault, which features repurposed clothing, vintage pieces, costumes, props, and the occasional piece of art. In addition, founder Sharon Willis is offering four free 30-minute demonstrations that share some tricks of the trade. At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., she’ll demonstrate how wedding dresses, military jackets, and old sweaters can become Halloween costumes, fashion apparel, and works of art.

Willis will also host two “closet to character” sessions. The first focuses on character acting and movement for Halloween personas. Attendees will learn to adopt a character and make it believable. The second is a character makeup demonstration.
Ten percent of the proceeds from Vault sales will go to the Clemente Course, a free college course for the extremely impoverished in Charleston, offered by Trident Technical College.

Theatrics Unlimited is located at 981 King St. Tours of the 1915 structure will also be available on Saturday. Call (843) 722-2326 or go to theatricsunlimited.com.
