Local online talk radio station Kinetic Hi-Fi just launched its all-music spin-off TheFix.fm with a party at the downtown art space, Tivoli.

“We had been tossing around the idea of building a station run by local DJs for a while,” co-founder Brad Cooper explains, “and Mike Bills, a long-time radio personality in Charleston and supporter and mentor of ours, suggested we create a radio station to fill the gap created by the rise of corporate radio and the demise of truly local stations like 96 Wave.”

Listeners can expect to hear a mix of indie, alternative, electronic, and local music — two local tracks an hour, in fact.

A TheFix.fm Android app is set to release this week.
