The first day of summer and the longest day of the year andddd it’s dreary as hell outside. Don’t fret! There are still events being held tonight to celebrate the fiery ball in the sky.
Salute the Solstice
This fest has been relocated to Tides on Folly, but a little drizzle won’t bring these yogis down. From 5 to 8 p.m. enjoy yoga, live music, and treats from the Juice Joint. Teachers from a variety of Charleston studios will offer meditation, sun salutations, and safe hands-on adjustments. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Yogis are encouraged to bring mats, although a limited number will be available to borrow.
Creative Hoppy Hour + Benefit Night (Summer Solstice Edition)
If you love the idea of Creative Mornings, but are more of a night owl (8:30 a.m. is tad early for some late risers), then this event is for you. Starting at 6 p.m. head to Revelry Brewing to mingle with other creatives, sip on craft brews, and grab some fun uber flattering photos with the Lumos Booth. $1 for every beer sold from 4 to 10 p.m. goes to Creative Mornings Charleston.
Mayan Cacao Ceremony & Meditation Celebration
Head to Lotus Healing Center to discover the powers of raw organic cacao; in ceremonial doses, this substance is a powerful heart opener that “paves the way for self-love, compassion, and kindness.” From 7 to 8:30 p.m. channel the ancient Mayans and Aztecs in honor of the longest day of the year.
And while this event is technically held the day after the Solstice, the Summer Solstice Sisterhood Soiree (say that three times fast) features all things love and light, guided by women’s leadership coach Emily Cassel and yoga teacher and lifestyle coach Cortney Ostrovsky. The event kicks off tomorrow, Thurs. June 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online.
