Gov. Henry McMaster and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette made history Wednesday as South Carolina’s first joint gubernatorial ticket to file for reelection. The pair have worked together since McMaster’s reelection in 2018, when a new law allowed for running mates.
Meanwhile, Democratic candidate Joe Cunningham is expected to announce his running mate in Greenville Monday.

Two Charleston judges being considered for S.C. Supreme Court. S.C. Circuit Court Judges Maite D. Murphy of North Charleston and Stephanie Pendarvis McDonald of Charleston are being considered for seat four in the South Carolina Supreme Court. Hearings are scheduled for Nov. 14.
Ellis receives endorsement from top state education association. Democratic candidate for S.C. Superintendent Lisa Ellis officially received an endorsement from the South Carolina Education Association.
Build-to-rent project set for West Ashley. RangeWater Real Estate recently purchased land near Bees Ferry Road and Bluewater Way in West Ashley. RangerWater plans three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhomes on 17 acres of land. The project is expected to break ground in August, with the first tenants expected to move in Oct. 2023.
New golf course coming to Johns Island. Kiawah Island-based real estate investment firm South Street Partners plans to turn nearly 900 acres of land into a golf community with residential homes. The plans call for an 18-hole golf course and associated amenities, as well as residential homes.
Charleston tech firm raises money to expand. Charleston-based technology company PunchListUSA recently raised $39 million to help expand its business. The company stated it plans to use the funds to hire more workers for technology, data science, field operations and customer service roles.
Dorchester County looking to expand Ashley River Park 300 acres. Dorchester County Council members announced that they want to expand Ashley River Parks 83 acres to nearly 300 acres. The park could expand across Bacons Bridge Road into a county-owned 112 acres of land.
JetBlue buys Spirit Airlines. JetBlue agreed to purchase Spirit Airlines for $3.8 billion Thursday morning. The deal comes after Spirit Airlines failed to merge with Frontier Airlines. If acquired, JetBlue would become the fifth largest airline in the country.
