Savannah National Wildlife Refuge’s freshwater marshes are among the richest wetlands in the Southeast, but they could be swallowed whole by rising sea levels. Fifth earthquake in three days reported in South Carolina. Another earthquake has rumbled in the Columbia area. The latest was reported to be a magnitude 2.4 quake that struck at about 4:12 a.m. Wednesday. This earthquake brings the state’s total of shakers in 2021 to 28. S.C. House releases another proposed congressional map, still gets criticism. The South Carolina House has released another map for redrawing congressional voting districts in the state — this time the map mirrors the Senate’s version but also still would likely keep the state electing six Republicans and one Democrat to Congress. Charleston’s Carnival Sunshine under CDC scrutiny for COVID outbreak. The CDC said 88 vessels are now either under investigation or observation, but it did not specify how many COVID-19 cases have been reported. Four other vessels are also being monitored by the CDC as well. More: NPR, WCSC
