  • Kid Rock: still free

Kid Rock and his backing group the Twisted Brown Trucker Band return to the Lowcountry for a concert at the North Charleston Coliseum on Feb. 16. Country maverick Jamey Johnson is the opening act.

Kid Rock recently announced the first leg of the “Born Free Tour” on the heels of his new album, Born Free, which hit stores this month. The new slab follows 2007’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Jesus. The kickoff of the tour is a 40th birthday party Rock is throwing for himself at Detroit’s Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions football team. The tour hits arenas throughout the country with this first leg of the tour ending March 14 in Houston.

A documentary entitled Kid Rock: Born Free started airing across the MTV, Vh1, and CMT in November. Born Free is available at all major retailers and for the first time ever at non-traditional retailers Little Caesars, Radio Shack, and Boot Barn.

Tickets for the coliseum convert go on sale for $49.50 & $25 on Fri. Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (800) 554-6060, and online at ticketmaster.com.
