[image-1]In a statement last week, local contemporary painter Tim Hussey announced that he would no longer show his work in local galleries, but rather open his own studio in which to display his pieces. Hussey says, “While I have enjoyed my time with all of them [galleries] and hope to continue collaborating, my time has come to rethink the art industry and how to navigate it from within my own studio walls.”

Calling the new space T. Hussey Studio (1102 King St.), the abstract painter’s new direction is inspired by his desire to “examine the present state of the arts and look to the future with an open mind.” Hussey has been represented in galleries in Los Angeles, Nashville, Atlanta, and local spots like the George Gallery, Rebekah Jacob Gallery, Charleston Music Hall, and the City Gallery.
