Perhaps in the shadows of some of the “big shows” at The Plex (2390 Aviation Avenue, North Charleston, 225-PLEX) this season (Cake, Lily Allen, George Clinton, etc.), two prestigious Charleston bands are slated for a noteworthy concert this Saturday, May 26.

[image-1] Popular alt/pop band The Working Title are set to headline. The core or the group — guitarists Adam Pavao and Joel Harrison and drummer Ross Taylor — will bring special guests (bassist Chris Gingrich and new guitarist Matt Podesla) on stage for the set, which will surely include most of the tunes off their 2006 album, About Face (Universal/Motown).

[image-2] Local guitar-pop ensemble The Explorers Club apparently are on the bill as well, although we didn’t hear about it until past our City paper deadline, unfortunately. The band recently toured out to the West Coast and back behind a self-released EP and a single titled “Don’t Forget the Sun.” Show time is around 8 p.m. … probably closer to 9 p.m., really. Best of All Breathing open. ($10 adv / $12 dos / $3 surcharge under 21). Big stage, big lights, big P.A. — it could be a thumbs-upper.
