After this past weekend’s not guilty verdict for George Zimmerman, a protest has been planned for Sat. July 20 at the U.S. Custom House.

“The message is justice for Trayvon,” says Elder James Johnson, a North Charleston pastor and activist. Johnson says he expects to see about 300 people at the event, civil rights suit, change SYG law

“All that law does is give vigilantes a license to kill and not go to jail.”

“Why we’re rallying right now is we need to change that law. The law is so broad, we need to change it. We need a clear understanding of that law. What we need to do is boycott Florida until they change that law also.”

“We might have put it out there that there’s going to be something, but we didn’t start it,” Johnson says.
