Had to post another follow-up to the Louie’s Kids event that was held at the Civic Design Center last week. Louis Yuhasz does a great job not just bringing attention to the problems of childhood obesity, but actually providing solutions — namely education.

The number one way for both children and adults to fight the fat is by learning to prepare nutritious foods. And I can’t think of a better way to encourage that knowledge than by pairing kids up with chefs like Bob Carter and Craig Diehl. Just look at the face of TreVaughn Dais, who won last week’s challenge. He’s a rising 10th grader in the culinary program at Garrett Academy in N. Charleston.

Perhaps this high profile event will not only help him fight obesity but spur him to become one of Charleston’s future stars of the kitchen.
