Mark your calendars: Tristan is hosting Narcissism: An Evening of Art, Fashion & Indulgence on Sun. July 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Patrons of the event will enjoy a fashion show put on by Beba Luxe, as well as a performance by Charleston Ballet. But the focal point of Narcissism is the artwork, brought to you by local galleries in Charleston.

The event is the first in a series the restaurant will be hosting, and Martin Gallery has been selected to be the first to showcase one of their artist’s works.

Angela Colyer of Tristan Restaurant, who is coordinating the event, says she chose Martin Gallery because one of their artists, Joan Dumouchel, has created artwork that inspires a “dreamy” theme of summer.

“The subjects of each of her paintings are dancers … portraits of the artist’s daughter, and each one has an ethereal … dreamlike quality about it,” says Kit Coleman, manager at the Martin Gallery.

In preparation for the event, Tristan, in collaboration with other local businesses, has been doing a lot of ground campaigning to make sure the venue is full on the 26th.

“Artists of the community and the ‘thirty-somethings’ of the area like these sort of events.” Colyer says. They are hoping for at least 200 guests, and will be selling tickets up until showtime.

“The next event will follow a different theme, something very creative … maybe going with the seasons,” Colyer says. “We have an amazing artist pool to choose from … and I want to start incorporating local galleries, networking, and getting fresh ideas.”

The $35 ticket will give you access to hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. Reservations can be made by contacting Colyer at or by calling (843) 534-2155.
