It didn’t take long for Tristan to rebound from the departure of Chef Aaron Deal, who left Charleston for a gig in Chicago at the Custom House. General Manager Steve Harris tells us that a deal has been finalized — Chef Nate Whiting at Woodlands will be taking the helm at Tristan in a few weeks.
“He gave his notice and will be joining us Oct. 19,” says Harris, “which means we’ll have new menus at the first of the year.”
Whiting has been at the Woodlands for five and a half years, working with stellar talents like Scott Crawford and Tarver King before being promoted to executive chef of the five-star, five-diamond Dining Room in Oct. 2008.
Whiting, who was married at the Woodlands in May, is excited about moving downtown.
“I’m thrilled to be going down there, in town,” he says. “It’s just a great property and a great opportunity to let people experience my food.”
We’ll keep you posted on who will replace Whiting at the Woodlands.
