Robert Moss has called it the “go-to spot for Mt. Pleasant beer geeks” and now we can report that James Islanders may soon choose to do the same: Coleman Public House (427 W Coleman Blvd.) is planning on opening a second restaurant in the old Maybank Highway Mustard Seed location.
Owner Brian Tanner confirmed the news in an email today. “I can confirm that we will be taking over the 1970 Maybank location. As of right now we are in the planning stages and do not have an opening date set,” he writes.
The Mustard Seed (part of the Dine with Sal Group) website currently says the space is closed for renovations. But it appears the closure of the location follows the shuttering last year of three of the restaurant group’s other spaces including Uno Mas and Sette in Mount Pleasant, and the Mustard Seed’s James Island neighbor Boulevard Diner. A call to the Dine with Sal corporate office for more details has not been returned.
For now, fans of Coleman’s well-known Angus burgers can gear up for the arrival of the pub west of the Ashley.
UPDATE: As some of you guessed, calling the new location Coleman Public House just wouldn’t make sense. We can confirm that the new restaurant will be called Maybank Public House. The company has just launched the Facebook page. Give it a Like for more updates.
