The memorial service for the nine firefighters lost in Monday’s blaze will be at 10 a.m. Friday at North Charleston Coliseum.

“The service Friday will be very important for everyone,” Mayor Joe Riley said. “We’ll be coming together in sorrow and love to support the families.”

Fire departments from around the country are expected to attend.

To accommodate the massive influx of fire personnel, a staging area for fire apparatus will be set up Friday at Concord and Washington streets. Line up will begin at 5 a.m. with a procession to the Coliseum starting at 8 a.m. Additionally, a staging area will be set up at the Coliseum for honor guards and firefighters in full uniform. Expected road closures and the parade route are being determined and will be announced at a later time.

The city and the South Carolina Firefighter’s Association have created a 24-hour hotline for individuals and fire departments interested in attending or participating in Friday’s service. The number is 866-915-3010.

The city has also set up a separate fund to help pay for the service.
