After working separately in the Charleston arts scene for over 10 years, local art connoisseurs Sean Fernau and Angela Hall have joined forces to open a new gallery, Aster Hall. Located on 481 King St. (across from Chai’s), the “informal gallery” will showcase a rich blend of contemporary visual art and high-end jewelery.

Fernau, who worked as the interim gallery director at Rebekah Jacob Gallery, is hoping to incorporate everything from traditional acrylic and oil canvas paintings to steel and wood sculpture. “I’m hoping to attract artists that are younger and contemporary,” he says.

In charge of the jewelry is Hall, a jeweler and medalsmith herself.

Aster Hall will be open from 12-6 p.m. daily, but Fernau hopes to extend the hours until 9 p.m. on some nights to attract a more “nocturnal crowd.” For more information call (843) 789-3580.
