If you’re trying to watch the width of your wallet but still want chic and stylish items for your wardrobe, you’re in luck. Uptown Cheapstake, a buy-sell-trade franchise headquartered in Salt Lake City, opened a new location in Mt. Pleasant earlier this month.
It’s not your standard consignment store because they buy on the spot, but it is an option for discounted clothing and a chance to reap some benefits from spring cleaning. Located at 655 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Uptown stocks name brand items like Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, and Juicy Couture. Expect to find items discounted up to 70 percent. High-end jeans like Religion are priced around $69-$80, jewelry ranges from $2-$30 and shoes are between $4 and $100, depending on the condition and designer.
Uptown is always looking for guys’ and girls’ clothing and accessories to keep the selection fresh. Stop by Mon.-Sat. from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. to trade your unwanted merchandise for either something new or just cold hard cash. You can expect to get a third of the price Uptown will sell the item for.
According to Uptown Cheapstake owner Dana Berry, the new store has exceeded expectations. She thanks locals for the store’s success so far. “It’s a great community that has given support and provided fabulous new items daily. We also have great customers,” Berry says.
Uptown is open Mon.-Sat. from 10 a.m.-7p.m. and Sunday from 12-5 p.m. The store’s building also includes an internet café with free wi-fi, outdoor seating, organic coffee, and snacks for anyone who wants to stick around after shopping for fashion steals. The cafes’ hours are still a bit inconsistent, running mainly on weekends, but Berry assures us it’ll be running full time shortly.
