This year, City Paper’s annual Music Issue will shine the spotlight on a cross section of standout Lowcountry acts with the City Paper Music Awards. The CPMAs are designed to celebrate some of the movers and shakers in the scene with a roundup of the most active and accomplished musicians, bands, and recordings of the year.

Through a closed nomination process, a City Paper committee of writers and experts chose players and groups in 21 categories. Readers can cast votes for nominees here between Sept. 26 and Oct. 5.

Up-and-Coming Act of the Year
Experimental Artist of the Year

The City Paper will tally the votes in each category and publish the results on Oct. 19. Winners will receive awards created by artist John Pundt at the City Paper Music Awards Show, a gala event set for the Pour House at 7:30 p.m. on Wed. Oct. 19. Visit for more.
