It’s the last weekend in February, and Charleston’s marking it with a pretty random assortment of events. Let’s start with the most unique ones.

On Friday night, the College of Charleston hosts a 15-hour Dance Marathon at Carolina First Arena to benefit MUSC Children’s Hospital. The same night, Eye Level Art hosts a Speakeasy with music from Elise Testone and the Bootleg Band. On Saturday, The Police Boxing Club is celebrating their 27th anniversary with a dinner and boxing show at the Gaillard. Also Saturday, CofC’s Visual Arts Club hosts a Cheap Art Auction and T-shirt Sale at Redux, and the Daily Dose presents their semi-annual Brazil Bash, which we hear is generally a pretty wild dance party.

The beer will certainly be flowing this weekend, with the much-anticipated Brewvival rolling into town on Saturday at Noisette. Expect live music and more craft brews than you can drink. Then on Sunday, the Recovery Room hosts their Beer Olympics, with participants competing in events like a chugging contest, bike breakdown, a TV relay run, artistic tagging, and more.

Music-wise, on Friday, Eliot Lipp w/ MO Theory and Nostalgia are at the Pour House, electronica showcase I Can’t Feel My Face is at the Music Farm, and the Mac Leaphart Band is at the Mill. Saturday, Dumpstaphunk will be at the Pour House, Parachute Musical with Steven Fiore will be at the Tin Roof, and Sequoya Prep School is at the Music Farm. On Sunday, the Royal Tinfoil with Shaniqua Brown is at the Tin Roof.

Socially-conscious types can head to the IOP Exchange Club Saturday for Pork ‘n’ Pearls, a pig and oyster roast fundraiser for the Windwood Farm Home for Children. The Sullivan’s Island Oyster Roast on Saturday benefits the Fire & Rescue departments on the island. Then on Sunday at James Island County Park, Paws Go Red will have health screenings for dogs and their owners, as well as lots of fun canine stuff.

Shoppers have plenty to choose from this weekend. Troubadour hosts a trunk show and spring preview at Hampden Friday, and Candy Shop Vintage is having a trunk show at Mac and Murphy on Saturday. Over in Avondale on Saturday, Poe is having a trunk show featuring Alexis Gault’s Lush Life Originals, while Culture Vultures is having a major sidewalk sale.

There’s tons of fun theater this weekend worth checking out: the Footlight’s Late Night offering is The Altruists, CofC presents Equus (nudity alert!), and Charleston Stage reimagines Twelfth Night. Also, Village Playhouse presents Dead Man’s Cell Phone, South of Broadway presents Carmen, and it’s the last weekend to catch Health Nuts. Oh, and Tango Dream is at the Footlight Theatre on Sunday.
