I’m not going to be in Charleston this weekend. Instead, I’ll be in Atlanta seeing Guided By Voices. So unfortunately I won’t get to go to any of these cool events (but let’s face it, seeing GBV is probably cooler).

It’s pre-Halloween weekend weekend. That means the Bacardi Halloween Howler Bar Crawl, the library’s Castle of Terror, A Circus A*Fair Halloween Party, the opening of Deadication, a Ghosts of the South tour, a graveyard tour, the Halloween Extravaganza, and, of course, Skinful. Plus all the stuff we have listed here.

Taste the goodies from the second Baked cookbook at their signing and sampling. If you’re anything like me, they won’t come out anywhere near as good at home.

Three Bluesphere exhibits are opening this weekend: Architecture of Survival, Bottle Cap Mandala, and Running the Numbers. Chris Jordan, Bryant Holsenbeck, and Pedro Lobo, the artists behind these exhibits, will lecture around town. Familiar Strangers at Eye Level and the Shibboleth Art Show also open.

Have a guten tag at Daniel Island’s Oktoberfest and Gene’s Oktoberfest. Does that sentence make sense gramatically in German?

The third Follypalooza goes down on Center Street on Saturday.

Dirty Blonde and Visiting Mr. Green continue, Return to the Forbidden Planet opens, and The Epic of Unitarian Universalism is a one-night-only performance.

The City of Goose Creek Fire Department will host a softball tournament benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association

52.5 Records, we hardly knew ye. Seriously, I’m going to miss you dudes. Thanks for the Will Oldham 10 inch.

Charleston Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Artists of Charleston host Pops!

This weekend is all about walking. The Avondale 5K Run/Walk, the Bridge Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness, the Walk for Farm Animals, the Walk for PKD. Better get out a good pair of shoes.

Stay calm, but there will be a $15,000 diamond hidden somewhere downtown on Sunday.

Oyster roast season has begun. Get your fill at the LEEP and Fall Soiree roasts.

Get some new stuff at Carolina Consigns or the Community Garage Sale.

Laugh yourself silly at Bingo Improv, Blast Off?, Theatre 99 Improv Jam, or Just June.

Charleston Ballet Theatre presents Rocky Horror. Gosh, I sure wish Meat Loaf would show up.

The Greater Park Circle Film Society will present Corndog Man, which was filmed in the area. It’s a free showing with food from Cork Bistro. Plus there’s A Night of Jewish Film.

Be spooky all year long by picking up your new pet at the Black Cat Adoption Event. And West Ashley Loves Animals hosts an expo.

Which Disney Princess was your favorite? Ariel is pretty up there for me. Catch them all at Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes. Also for the kids are Rumplestilkstin, Nathan’s Friends Autism Fun Day, and the FANS Family Picnic.

It’s your last chance to play voyeur at the 34th Annual Fall Tours of Homes & Gardens.

Franke at Seaside hosts a Fall Art Festival, and the Charleston Horticultural Society hosts the Mt. Pleasant Home and Garden Show. There’s also the Matthew J. Taylor Scholarship Ride and Street Fair and the Park Day Festival.

Remember when collecting money for UNICEF on Halloween was all the rage? Reminisce by contributing at Bistro 536. Or help out in other ways at Jerry Zucker Ride for Hope, the Breast Bike Run and Benefit, Think Pink, Barbells for Boobs, Nathan’s Friends Autism Fun Day, Leggiadro Shopping Benefit, or Drum It Up.

And things will look pretty apocalyptic when zombies take over downtown on Sunday. But they’re eating flesh for a good cause: the MUSC Pulmonary Hypertension Program.
