It just goes by so fast, like the blink of an eye. Spoleto ends this weekend, so get in all that you can while you still can. Highlights include the free Piccolo finale downtown and Spoleto’s finale at Middleton Place with the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Bet you can’t guess which one I’ll be going to. OK, it’s the Drops.
The World Cup starts today in Cape Town, so expect to not see any soccer-loving friends of yours for the next month. Other sports fans can choose from the Clash at the Coliseum, Cycle South Carolina, the Mt. Pleasant Women’s Pro Classic, or watch our own team, the Charleston Battery live, in person, and without having to worry about a difference in time zones.
The Holy City Artist and Fleas sale takes place at Eye Level Art on Saturday. You won’t find any counterfeit designer purses or drug paraphernalia, but there’s bound to be something just as good.
The Charleston chapter of Les Dames D’Escoffier hosts a culinary tag sale and raffle. And the Coastal Cupboard is having a charity knife sharpening to benefit Louie’s Kids. Sounds like totally safe, not at all dangerous fun. But jokes aside, it’s for a great cause.
The Welcome to the Dollhouse fashion show will inspire all us Dawn Wieners out there. There is also a trunk show benefitting the Center for Women at Velevet Salon on Friday evening and a bridal sample sale at Belle Couture Bridal on Saturday. It’s that wedding time of year, you know.
There’s a bunch of benefits this weekend. Help two local artists rebuild their house by buying art on Friday night, play bingo with the Lowcountry HighRollers on Sunday, ride your motorcycle for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Saturday, or just do pilates.
Plant the seeds of hope at McCrady’s with some of the city’s best chefs on Sunday night.
Pilgrim, watch Stagecoach at the Olde North Charleston Picture House.
And having recently moved to Charleston from Gainesville, I’ve got to give a shout out to the boys from Less Than Jake, who perform here Friday. Even if I’ve never liked their music. North Central Florida represent.
