Friday
Nothing says happy holidays like … a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Head to the Terrace at 11:30 p.m.; tickets are only $11.
Matilda Dae plays at Elliottborough Mini Bar from 8:30 to 11 p.m.
Josh Roberts & The Hinges present a tribute to Tom Petty at the Pour House. Doors open at 8 p.m.
Get in the spirit at Light the Lake tonight starting at 5:30 p.m. at Colonial Lake. There will be food trucks, a photo booth, tacky Xmas sweater contest, holiday music, carolers, and, of course, the lighting of the tree in the middle of the lake.
Indie folk duo Local Honey plays at Eclectic Vinyl and Cafe starting at 8 p.m.
Catch your breath and spend an evening with Grammy-nominated, S.C. native band NEEDTOBREATHE at the Music Hall starting at 8 p.m.
Don your tackiest sweater and head to the Purple Buffalo at 9 p.m. for a show featuring three DJs — DJ SCrib, Black Dave, and Illadell. Proceeds from the event go towards helping Reina Gascon-Lopez’s Family in Puerto Rico.
Saturday
There’s a lot going on today. A LOT. Check out details for six peninsula haps here, including the CP sponsored inaugural Crafty Bastards arts and craft fair at the Joe.
Off the peninsula, check out the Daniel Island Holiday Festival running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with shopping, entertainment, and kids’ activities galore.
The Charleston Performing Arts Center hosts A Folly Jolly Morning with Santa featuring pictures with Santa, crafts, cookies, and a letter to Santa writing station, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
IOP hosts their own holiday festival, Once Upon a Party, featuring a princess pop-up salon. The fun begins at 2 p.m.
Get jazzy with the CJO at the Holiday Swing concert at the Music Hall starting at 4 p.m.
Still haven’t decked the halls? Head to the Charleston Horticultural Society’s holiday greens sale at South Windermere Shopping Center from 8-11 a.m.
The fourth annual homegrown holiday bazaar on Johns Island is a one stop shop — peruse goods from more than 100 vendors; purchase eats and brews from food trucks and Low Tide and Holy City Brewing; listen to tunes from the V-Tones and Sol Drive Train; and enjoy festive activities like pony rides, hay rides, carriage rides, meeting with Santa and more.
The North Charleston Christmas Festival and Parade will feature a parade starting at 5 p.m. along with hay rides, a marshmallow roast, a petting zoo, meetings with Santa, and live entertainment from Dj Moo Moo, The Zandrina Dunning Experience, Wayne Daws, and the Charleston Caroling Company.
The Charlotte Ballet brings The Nutcracker to the Gaillard Center for three performances — 2 and 7 p.m. Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun.
Scuba Claus and his elves will be at the aquarium now through Dec. 23.
Shop for good at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Christmas charity boutique from 10 a.m. -4 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
