… It actually still isn’t, but a $27 million rake for the third quarter is a record take for a Democrat at a time when every other candidate is talking down fundraising numbers and going on and on about how horrible the quarter is for fundraising.

I had a guess that things were looking good for Clinton when Obama came out early with his $20 million total, while seeming in no way excited that he had bested Howard Dean’s past record for the quarter by about $5 million (but, then, we all know what happened to Dean).

But what this victory says for Hillary is that she has support (she touts more than 100,000 new donors, also besting Obama’s total). For comparison, the few other numbers that have been released so far includes John Edward’s $9 million take and GOP Thompson’s $8 million.

The big question will be Rudy and Mitt’s money.
